Canada's deputy chief public health officer says containing the second wave of COVID-19 has a simple solution, but implementing it is difficult.

Doctor Howard Njoo says it's clear gatherings over the Thanksgiving weekend are contributing to the current increases in infection rates.

He says it is critical to follow public health guidelines, including physical distancing, staying home, wearing a mask and practising good hygiene.

Njoo says if we don't do those things, the virus that causes COVID-19 spreads and puts vulnerable people at risk.

Ontario is reporting 827 new cases of COVID-19 today, and four new deaths due to the virus.

Quebec is reporting 963 new cases of COVID-19 and 19 more deaths linked to the novel coronavirus.

The Town of Peace River has issued a flood alert for areas including its downtown, warning residents to be ready to leave on short notice due to rising water levels on the Heart River. RCMP investigate suspicious death at Peace River gas station

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police say a man is dead after an incident at a gas station in northern Alberta that investigators are treating as suspicious. Canadian astronaut Joshua Kutryk assigned to first space mission aboard SpaceX Crew-13

Canadian astronaut Joshua Kutryk is scheduled to travel to the International Space Station later this year as part of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-13 mission, according to a Canadian Space Agency news release.
