The Aam Aadmi Party government of Punjab, giving a big shock to the common people, has increased the VAT on petrol and diesel, as well as withdrawn the relief of Rs. .Although 300 units of free electricity will continue, the general public who exceed this limit may now have to pay a heavy electricity bill.

After the cabinet meeting held on Thursday, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said that the VAT on petrol has been increased by 61 paise per liter and on diesel by 92 paise per liter, saving the government 150 crores from petrol and 150 crores from diesel. There will be additional earnings of Rs 392 crore.

On the question of increasing the burden of inflation on the common people, Cheema said that the money that will come from it will be spent on the development of Punjab.
