Punjab Govt Signals Action Against Employees After Mass Strike

The Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government is preparing to take strict action against government employees who participated in the mass strike across the state.

The government has sought a list of employees who remained absent from duty without prior permission during the strike. Secretary-level officials have been directed to submit the list by tomorrow.

Earlier, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had scheduled a meeting with leaders of the striking employees in Jalandhar. However, the meeting was later cancelled. Mann said the employees should first call off the strike before the government would hold talks with them.

When the employee leaders arrived for the meeting, they were reportedly not given time to meet the Chief Minister. The development has further increased tensions between the government and the protesting employees.

The employee unions are now preparing their next strategy. The standoff is likely to continue as the government maintains a tough position while the employees consider their next course of action.
