During the hearing of the petitions against the premature dissolution of all the panchayats of the state in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Punjab government had to face a very difficult situation. The lawyer appearing for the government told the court that the decision to dissolve panchayats was taken in public interest. The government asked that some time be given to file the reply. A bench headed by the Chief Justice of the High Court asked the government to answer these questions by Wednesday in any case.
