Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has visited PEI to meet with some residents and see first-hand some of the extensive damage caused by post-tropical storm Fiona.

Fiona left a trail of destruction across a wide swath of Atlantic Canada, stretching from Nova Scotia's eastern mainland to Cape Breton, Prince Edward Island and southwestern Newfoundland.

Trudeau says some infrastructure was completely overwhelmed by the storm and Canada will need to plan for future climate-related disasters.

Trudeau is also heading to two communities in Cape Breton later today, Glace Bay and Sydney.
