Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre has publicly challenged Liberal Leader Mark Carney to participate in a French-language debate. Poilievre even offered to cover Carney’s fees for attending the debate.
Accusing Carney of avoiding the debate, Poilievre stated that the Liberal leader lacked the answers to defend his party’s policies and the courage to confront challenges, drawing a parallel to standing up to figures like Trump.
The debate was originally planned by Quebec’s private French-language television network TVA. However, after Carney declined the invitation, TVA canceled the program. Other parties, including the Bloc Québécois, the Conservative Party, and the NDP, had accepted the invitation to participate in the debate.
