Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary, wife of the late Santokh Singh Chaudhary, who was a Member of Parliament from Jalandhar of the Punjab Congress, joined the BJP recently.

Santokh Singh Chowdhury's family was angry over the nomination of Charanjit Singh Channi as a candidate from Jalandhar. However, his son Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, who is an MLA from Phillaur, has not yet left the Congress to save his Vidhan Sabha membership, for which Pargat Singh, the Congress MLA from Jalandhar Cantt constituency, has attacked him.

Pargat Singh said that if Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary had so much displeasure with the party, he would have left the Congress and contested for the BJP.

Speaking to reporters in Ottawa on Monday, Carney described Trump as a “strong negotiator” and suggested that the president’s comments should be considered in the context of broader trade discussions.
