Kamala Harris has been sworn in as the nation's first female vice-president.

The former U.S. senator from California is also the first Black person and the first person of South Asian descent elected to the vice presidency and becomes the highest-ranking woman ever to serve in government.

She was sworn in Wednesday by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the first Latina to serve on the Supreme Court.

Vice-President Mike Pence, standing in for President Donald Trump, was sitting nearby as Lady Gaga sang the national anthem accompanied by the U.S. Marine Corps band.

Multiple glass ceilings shattered in Washington this morning as Kamala Harris was sworn in as the first female US vice-president, as well as the first Black woman and person of South Asian descent to hold the position.

She was escorted to the podium by Capitol Police officer Eugene Goodman, who faced down a mob of rioters as they tried to breach the Senate floor two weeks ago.

Eby signals willingness to discuss pipeline proposal if northern tanker ban stays in place

BC Premier David Eby says his government is prepared to consider discussions around a proposed northern pipeline, as long as the long standing ban on crude oil tankers along the province’s northern coast remains intact. Singh said discussions on seat sharing between the BJP and the Akali Dal had nearly been finalized ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election but fell apart late in the process. He cautioned that if the two parties do not realign, the
