Measles cases in Ontario continue to rise, with the Ontario Public Health Department reporting over 100 new cases in the past week alone. As of Wednesday, the total number of measles cases in the province for 2025 has reached 440, including 357 confirmed and 83 probable cases.

The growing spread of measles in Canada is raising serious concerns, especially considering that the disease was once considered eradicated in 1998. In addition to Ontario, cases have also been reported in New Brunswick, Quebec, and Alberta. Recent outbreaks have also been observed in rural areas of New Mexico and Texas in the United States.

Canada's Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Theresa Tam, emphasized that most of the measles cases reported in Canada involve unvaccinated individuals, particularly children and newborns.
