Man charged in death of security guard at university campus in B.C.: RCMP

RCMP say a man has been charged in connection with the death of a security guard after she was attacked at UBC's Okanagan campus in Kelowna in February.

The Mounties have said officers responded to a report of an assault and alleged a man who was working at the university had attacked a security guard.

Kiranjot Kaur identified the woman who died as her 24 year old cousin, Harmandeep Kaur, who had come to Canada as international student in 2015 and recently received permanent residency status, with plans to become a paramedic.

Police say a 22 year old Kelowna man has been charged with second-degree murder and is expected to appear in court later today.
