Metro Vancouver Transit Police say a man has been arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl at the Scottsdale Exchange in Surrey earlier this year.
Investigators say the incident happened around 9 p.m. on June 28, 2025, when a man in his late 30s approached a 16-year-old girl waiting for a bus. Police allege the suspect attempted to talk to her, tried to kiss her, and groped her before exposing himself. Two women nearby reportedly intervened, prompting the man to run away from the area.
Following a joint investigation by the General Investigation and Criminal Intelligence Units, police identified a suspect who is known to law enforcement. The man was arrested on October 16 and later released with conditions, including a ban on attending the Scottsdale Exchange. Transit Police say a recommended charge of sexual assault has been sent to the BC Prosecution Service.
Constable Amanda Steed said investigators commend the victim for reporting the assault and are appealing for the two women who intervened to contact police.
Transit Police are encouraging anyone who experiences or witnesses harassment or indecent acts on public transit to report it by calling 604-515-8300 or texting 87.77.77. Emergencies should be reported to 911.
