The leaders of Canada’s three major political parties have officially launched their election campaigns. During a rally in Montreal, NDP leader Jagmeet Singh pledged that if his party forms the government, 100 percent of affordable housing will be built on all federal land across Canada.
Notably, 46-year-old Jagmeet Singh made history by becoming the leader of a major federal party in Canada in 2017. Under his leadership, the New Democratic Party (NDP) is contesting its third election. This campaign comes at a time when recent polls show a decline in support for both the NDP and the Conservatives, following Mark Carney’s election as leader of the Liberal Party.
While launching the campaign, Singh criticized Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, Liberal leader Mark Carney, and U.S. president Donald Trump. He asserted that only the New Democrats could be trusted to safeguard Canada’s future.
