A case of fraud and corruption was registered against Hamdard by the Vigilance Bureau a week ago in connection with the manipulation of funds for the construction of the Jang-e-Azadi Memorial in Jalandhar.
The Punjab-Haryana High Court has today issued a notice to the Punjab government, staying the arrest of former Rajya Sabha member and managing director of Ajit newspaper Barjinder Singh Hamdard till July 18.

Barjinder Singh Hamdard has demanded to transfer this matter to an independent agency like CBI. He had argued that he is being wrongly implicated in this controversy. The hearing of this matter will now be held on July 18.
