Erin O'Toole says it's been the honour of a lifetime to lead the party of Sir John A. MacDonald and Confederation.

Speaking this evening he says he believes the Conservative party needs to be both an intellectual force and a governing force.

Erin O'Toole was ousted today by his caucus in a strong vote against his leadership.

But he intends to remain as a sitting MP, saying, ``there is not a bad seat in the House of Commons, from the back corner where he first sat, to the front rows.''

Erin O'Toole has headed the party since August of 2020 after Andrew Scheer was pushed out as leader.

One Killed, 19 Injured in Russian Drone Attack on Kyiv

One person was killed and 19 others were injured in a Russian drone attack on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv on Monday. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the drone struck the National Academy of Sciences in central Kyiv. Six of the injured were taken to hospital for treatment. The B.C. Conservatives say interim leader Lorne Doerkson could remain at the helm of the party for years without a leadership vote if the Conservatives win the Oct. 24 provincial election. According to a legal opinion obtained by the party, Doerkson would be invited by the Lieutenant-Governor to serve as premier if the Conservatives form government. Canadian air travellers have received some good news, with flight delays at the country’s busiest airports showing a major improvement this summer.
