Israel’s military has entered parts of southern Lebanon and ordered evacuations in 59 areas following renewed cross-border attacks involving the Lebanese group Hezbollah.
According to statements carried by international media, the Israeli military said the evacuation orders were issued as it targeted what it described as Hezbollah positions. Israeli forces carried out airstrikes for a second consecutive day, with the military saying the operations were aimed at degrading Hezbollah’s capabilities.
Lebanese authorities reported that more than 50 people were killed and over 150 injured in strikes on Monday. Officials also said more than 30,000 residents have fled their homes amid escalating hostilities. Casualty figures have not been independently verified.
Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, said it launched drone and missile attacks toward Israeli territory, including near the northern city of Haifa. The group said the strikes were in response to developments tied to Iran. Israeli officials have not publicly detailed damage from the reported attack near Haifa.
The situation marks a significant escalation along the Israel–Lebanon border, raising concerns about a broader regional conflict. Israeli authorities have urged civilians in affected Lebanese areas to leave immediately, citing ongoing military operations.
