In Punjab, ED raided 22 places including Chandigarh, Mohali and Firozpur

Today in Punjab, ED raided 22 places including Chandigarh, Mohali and Firozpur. Meanwhile, the house of Punjab Excise Commissioner IAS Varun Ruzam was also searched.

It has been learned from the sources that this raid was carried out in connection with a fraud of crores of rupees by showing a guava garden in a fake manner in the land to be acquired by the Punjab government.

Firozpur Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman's wife is also an accused in this case, the ED team also knocked on her residence.

The matter was that guava trees were planted in the land to be acquired by the government in Mohali and with collusion the government was defrauded of crores of rupees by way of compensation by telling their age to be 4 to 5 years.

This scam was worth around 137 crore rupees. Earlier, vigilance was investigating the matter, in which now ED has also joined.

18-year-old shooting suspect turns himself in to Burnaby RCMP

A suspect wanted in connection with a December 2025 shooting in North Burnaby has turned himself in to authorities. Burnaby RCMP said officers responded on Dec. 19, 2025, to a report of a shooting near Phillips Avenue and Woodbrook Place. A man was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital for treatment. The RCMP’s Investigative Support Team took over the investigation.
