IIO investigating a man's death who was being held at Campbell River detachment

RCMP say the province's police watchdog has been notified of the death of a man who was being held at the Campbell River detachment.

Police say the man was arrested yesterday morning for breach of probation.

They say an on-duty guard found him unresponsive and in medical distress late last night and he died after being taken to hospital.

The Independent Investigations Office will be investigating in an effort to determine whether police actions contributed to the man's death.
