Former MP and Manpreet Badal's father, Gurdas Singh Badal has passed away

Gurdas Singh Badal, father of Punjab's Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, and brother of the former Chief Minister of Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal has passed away.

Gurdas Singh Badal, father of Punjab's Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, and brother of the former Chief Minister of Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal has passed away.

90 year old Gurdas Singh Badal was not keeping well due to multiple issues related to acute diabetes, blood pressure, and heart problem.

He was recently admitted to a private hospital in Mohali.

Manpreet Badal shared the news of his father's demise on his twitter handle, "It is with great sorrow that I inform about the demise of my father S.Gurdas Singh Badal. He passed away last night at Fortis Hospital, Mohali. He was 90. His health had started deteriorating after my mother’s death in March, & he was on life support system for past few days."


In another tweet, due to prevalent COVID-19 situation, Manpreet Badal has requested people not to attend the funeral ceremony.

He wrote, "Keeping in view the current pandemic, we will like to request all friends and well wishers to refrain from attending the funeral ceremony which will be held in our ancestral village."

Gurdas Singh Badal was elected to the seventh Lok Sabha from Fazilka constituency in 1967 as member of Shiromani Akali Dal.



Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh shared Gurdas Singh Badal's picture in a tweet saying, "Deeply saddened to learn of the passing away of S. Gurdas Singh Badal. Join my colleague Manpreet Badal and the family in this moment of grief. May the Almighty grant liberation to the departed soul. Rest in peace!"
