Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal has demanded the resignation of five ministers of the Aam Aadmi Party government contesting the Lok Sabha elections. He said that the absence of ministers from their offices for two and a half months after the election will stop the administrative work.

All the ministers contesting the elections have major departments, including the ministries of agriculture, transport, health etc. Badal said that people should ask these ministers what works they have done for public welfare in the last two years.

It is worth noting that the Aam Aadmi Party has fielded Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal from Amritsar, Minister Laljit Bhullar from Khadur Sahib, Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian from Bathinda and Minister Dr. Ticket has been given to Balbir Singh.

Sukhbir Badal took further aim and said that the present AAP government has done only one thing of giving debt to Punjab, impoverished Punjab by taking a loan of one lakh crore rupees and spent most of this money on the expansion of AAP in other states.

US May Withdraw from Russia-Ukraine Peace Deal Efforts

President Trump’s Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has warned that the United States may pull out of its mediation efforts in the Russia-Ukraine peace deal if significant progress toward a ceasefire is not achieved soon. Speaking after a visit to Paris on Friday, Rubio stated that the US cannot continue these efforts for many more weeks or months and has many other priorities to focus on. Russia, which has been attacking Ukraine since 2022, has set numerous conditions for a potential ceasefire. Meanwhile, the United States has been actively involved in supporting Ukraine, providing $350 bil

Amritpal Singh’s Detention Extended for Another Year

The Punjab government has extended the detention of Amritpal Singh, Member of Parliament (MP) from Khadoor Sahib and leader of the ‘Waris Punjab De’ organization, under the National Security Act (NSA) at Assam’s Dibrugarh jail for an additional year. This decision follows the state government’s recent move to transfer nine of Amritpal’s associates to Punjab jails without extending their NSA detention. Amritpal Singh has been in custody since April 2023. Despite being in jail, Amritpal secured a resounding victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, representing the Khadoor Sahib consti

Transportation minister calls on Edmonton to cancel bike lane project, irking critics

Alberta's transportation minister is asking the city of Edmonton to cancel an ongoing bike lane project, saying the city should be working to increase vehicle capacity rather than reduce it. Devin Dreeshen says the city's multi-year plan to build 30 blocks of bike lanes on the city's north side will have a negative impact on the ``provincial road network'' as it comes at the expense of two lanes of vehicle traffic. While the province didn't contribute any dollars to the nearly $96 million project, Dreeshen says the government provides funding for other municipal roads and he wants

Calgary police say 11-year-old boy in hospital after being hit by LRT train

An 11-year-old boy has been taken to hospital after being hit by a light rail train car. Calgary police say the boy was walking in a marked crosswalk at Banff Trail Station when the CTrain entered the station. The pedestrian barriers weren't down, and the train struck the boy. Police say the boy's injuries aren't believed to be life threatening, but he was taken to hospital for treatment. They also say the driver of the train was arrested. Calgary Transit says trains resumed running at the station after it was closed for a little more than an hour.
