Federal Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos has announced funding for organizations providing sexual education and resources for young people, those with disabilities and Indigenous communities.
Duclos earmarked 2.8-million-dollars for the Sex Information and Education Council of Canada based in Montreal and the Centre for Sexuality in Calgary.
He says many young people and those in certain communities suffer shame, stigma, the feeling of not being important and not having access to services to people they can trust.
Pat Krause, the head of the Centre for Sexuality, says the organization will be providing more online support and will work with various communities such as L-G-B-T-Q, youth, First Nations and persons with developmental disabilities.
