Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he believed the threat of violence was very real during last winter's convoy blockades in downtown Ottawa and several border crossings.

Trudeau testified today on the final day of public hearings at the inquiry probing the government's use of the Emergencies Act to end the protests.

He said he's absolutely confident he made the right decision in invoking the act and that the move was recommended by Canada's top public servant and other top officials.

The Public Order Emergency Commission heard from more than 75 witnesses, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today.

A lawyer for the federal government says it's clear after six weeks of testimony there were serious threats of violence by demonstrators, that blockades posed threats to the economic security of Canada, and there were reasonable grounds to declare a national emergency.
