US President-elect Donald Trump has warned Hamas that there will be serious consequences if the hostages are not released by January 20. Trump's statement came after a meeting with Sara Netanyahu, wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Sara Netanyahu met Trump on Sunday at the Trump International Golf Course in Florida. During the meeting, she discussed the Gaza conflict and the release of hostages with Trump.

Hamas took more than 250 people hostage during the attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. Some of the hostages have died, others were released, and about 100 are still in Hamas captivity.

According to the Israeli military, 35 of the hostages have died. Reports also indicate that Donald Trump is planning to travel to Paris later this week. This will be Trump's first foreign trip since winning the presidential election.
