Coquitlam: Police return lost money to owner

Coquitlam RCMP are pleased to share that the money lost at IKEA located at 1000 Lougheed Highway, Coquitlam on September 11, 2022 has been returned to its rightful owner.

Police returned the cash to Pantelis Sarris on Friday, November 18, 2022 when he attended the Coquitlam RCMP detachment.

In September, Pantelis shared his Weekend Regret with a local radio station, Jack FM. Pantelis stated that the bundle of cash fell out of his pocket while he was furniture shopping for his daughter at IKEA in Coquitlam.

It was after the Coquitlam RCMP media release on November 14, 2022 that the connection was made between the Weekend Regret and Pantelis.

This is the outcome that we hoped for and are very pleased to see, said Media Relations Officer Corporal Alexa Hodgins. It’s really nice to see how the community came together to reunite Pantelis with his lost cash. Without the genuine integrity of the finder turning the money over to the police this ending would not be possible.

Surrey Police Service assumes Cloverdale policing as RCMP role ends after 75 years

The Surrey Police Service has taken full responsibility for policing in Cloverdale as of Friday, marking the end of more than 75 years of service by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in the area.
