Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today held a meeting at Punjab Bhavan with the farmers who have been struggling for 4 days regarding the agricultural policy and other demands in Chandigarh.

After the meeting with the farmers, Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said that within a month, the government will share the draft of the agriculture policy with the farmers and it will be implemented only after the suggestions of the farmers.

Along with this, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has decided to bring a one-time settlement scheme regarding the debts of farmers. Through this scheme farmers will be given an opportunity to clear their debts with cooperative banks.

Finance Minister Harpal Cheema said that there was also a discussion about withdrawing the papers registered on the farmers. At the same time, after this conversation, the farmers will take a decision to end the sit-in in Chandigarh on Friday.

Suspect Arrested in Langford Sexual Assault Investigation Involving Youth

West Shore RCMP say a 33-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault investigation involving a youth in Langford. According to an RCMP release, the incident was reported to have occurred on June 9 at about 3 p.m. near the intersection of Jacklin Road and Station Avenue. Police said a female youth was approached by an unknown adult male at a bus stop, where a brief conversation took place before the youth was allegedly sexually assaulted. B.C. launches hydroelectric upgrades aimed at boosting power supply by 7%

The British Columbia government has announced a series of upgrades to its hydroelectric system that it says will increase the province's electricity supply by about seven per cent.
