Peel Regional Police in Ontario have arrested a former Punjabi lawyer in connection with an alleged $4.3-million mortgage and cheque fraud investigation. Police are searching for a suspect vehicle following a road rage incident that led to a collision near Vegreville, east of Edmonton. Officers were called around 12:45 p.m. Friday after a collision related to a road rage incident on Range Road 152, north of Township Road 522. A Sikh man was targeted in a suspected hate-motivated attack in Toronto, prompting police to assign the investigation to the Hate Crime Unit. The incident happened Saturday at around 7:30 p.m. in the waterfront area near Queens Quay and Lower Spadina Avenue. According to investigators, the victim was standing in the area when an unidentified man suddenly approached him without any apparent provocation. The suspect allegedly made racist remarks before pulling out a knife and attacking the victim in the leg. The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and is now reported to be out of danger.
