A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a 24-year-old man charged with second-degree murder in the death of a Surrey woman who was reported missing in 2024.
Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said 24-year-old Amarbir Singh has been charged in the killing of 28-year-old Navdeep Kaur.
Police say Kaur was reported missing by family members to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Surrey on Feb. 23, 2024. Investigators with the Surrey RCMP Missing Persons Unit gathered evidence that led them to believe she had been the victim of a homicide.
IHIT took over the case in March 2024 and worked with the Surrey RCMP and Integrated Forensic Identification Services as the investigation continued.
Kaur was last seen on Feb. 22, 2024 at about 10:30 p.m. in the 7800-block of 123 Street in Surrey. On July 23, 2024, investigators located human remains that were later confirmed to be Kaur.
According to IHIT, homicide investigators spent months examining evidence from multiple scenes and reconstructing a timeline before submitting a charge recommendation to the BC Prosecution Service.
On March 6, 2026, Singh was formally charged with second-degree murder. Police say Singh and Kaur were in a relationship at the time of her disappearance.
IHIT said Singh is currently wanted on a Canada-wide warrant and investigators believe he may have fled the country.
“We are aware that Mr. Singh may have fled the country, but that will not stop us from pursuing him,” said Freda Fong, a sergeant with IHIT. “We will continue to actively track him down and we are fully prepared to work with our law enforcement counterparts overseas to bring him before the court.”
Police are asking anyone with information about Singh’s whereabouts to contact IHIT.
