Calgary police arrested two men suspected of running a firearms production

Police in Calgary have arrested two men suspected of running a firearms production and trafficking operation.

Calgary officers have seized more than 12-hundred firearms _ including more than 300 believed to have been used in a crime _ so far this year.

Nine per cent of those guns were homemade or 3-D printed, which police say is a significant increase over last year.

Acting Staff Sgt. Ben Lawson says the 3-D guns are a growing trend and function the same as regular firearms.

Brandon Vincent-Wagner, 24, and Justin Kumar, 27, were arrested on Aug. 16 and charged. Vincent-Wagner is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 30. Justin Kumar is slated to appear in court on Sept. 28.

Canada Moves to Extend Gas and Diesel Tax Relief Until January 2027

Canada’s Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne has introduced Bill C-38 in Parliament to extend the federal excise tax relief on gasoline and diesel until January 31, 2027. Under the proposed legislation, Canadians will continue to receive the full tax relief of 10 cents per litre on gasoline and 4 cents per litre on diesel until the end of January.
