BY Connect Newsroom, Jan 17, 2025 8:10 PM - REPORT AN ERROR

The seat became vacant following the recent death of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gurpreet Singh Gogi, who represented Ludhiana West in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.

Another by-election will soon be held in Punjab. The government has issued a notification to conduct re-elections in the Ludhiana West constituency before July 10. The seat became vacant following the recent death of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Gurpreet Singh Gogi, who represented Ludhiana West in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. Gogi passed away on January 11 after being accidentally shot while cleaning his revolver.

The Punjab Vidhan Sabha has informed the Election Commission about the vacancy, and the Election Commission is expected to announce the date for the by-election soon.

It is worth noting that by-elections were recently held in four constituencies of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha: Gidderbaha, Dera Baba Nanak, Barnala, and Chabbewal. The Aam Aadmi Party secured victories in Gidderbaha, Hoshiarpur, and Dera Baba Nanak.
