Sukhpal Singh Khaira gets relief from Supreme Court

The Punjab government has received a big blow when it reached the Supreme Court to cancel the bail of Punjab Congress MLA from Bhulath Sukhpal Singh Khaira.
The Supreme Court refused to cancel the bail granted to Khaira by the Punjab Haryana High Court. The Supreme Court said during the hearing that there is no doubt that the charges are serious but they do not agree with the given facts, after which the Supreme Court rejected the application of the Punjab government.
It is to be noted that Khaira was in jail since September 28 in a 9-year-old drug trafficking case, the High Court granted his bail on January 4, 2024, but on the same day, the Kapurthala police arrested him in a new case in which he has also got bail.
