BC's provincial health officer says she is concerned about a growing outbreak of COVID-19 at a federal prison in Mission.

Doctor Bonnie Henry says there are now 35 confirmed cases at the Mission Institution and eight people are in hospital.

Henry says all efforts are underway to contain the outbreak at the facility but the virus spread before it was recognized.

There is still only one positive case at the Okanagan Correctional Centre but testing and surveillance are ongoing.
