Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand may visit India in the coming weeks. She will do so in conjunction with a trip to China.
Prime Minister Mark Carney confirmed Foreign Minister Anita Anand's imminent visit to China in a statement on Tuesday after positive talks with China's second-highest-ranking leader Premier Li Keqiang in New York City. Anand's office said she will also visit India.
PM Mark Carney and Chinese President Xi Jinping may also meet in the coming days, with the Prime Minister saying he will meet the Chinese President at the appropriate time for trade talks and that he will continue these discussions with Premier Li Keqiang.
Carney said he sees tremendous potential for Canada to expand trade relations with other countries, while also defending his decision to recognize Palestine despite objections from US President Donald Trump, who warned that doing so could damage trade talks with Canada.
