Had a meeting with Jaishankar, after which he said that the US is to open two new consulates in India and the Foreign Minister has assured me that an effort will be made to open one in the holy city of Guru Nagar.

The decision to open a new consulate was taken 7 years ago in 2016 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then President Barack Obama.
