Preneet Kaur, Member of Parliament from Punjab's Patiala and wife of former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, today officially bid farewell to the Congress and joined the BJP.

It is believed that the Bharatiya Janata Party can field him again from this seat. Maharani Preneet Kaur first won the election from Patiala in 1999. Since then she has been representing Patiala in the Lok Sabha.

After this she was elected Member of Parliament from Patiala in 2004, 2009 and 2019. She was also an MLA from Patiala from 2014 to 2017.
