A fire broke out in a 5-storey building in Johannesburg, South Africa, due to which 73 people have died.

According to local media reports, 52 people have been injured and admitted to the hospital.

The death toll is suspected to increase.

The fire broke out in a five-storey building at night.

According to emergency service personnel, seven of the victims were children, including a one-year-old baby.

Witnesses present at the scene said that around 200 people lived in the building.

Security personnel are engaged in the rescue operation.

Officials have advised people to stay away from the building.

Firefighters say that the fire has been brought under control to a large extent.

At present, an investigation is being conducted as to how the fire started.
