Premier John Horgan warns tighter enforcement is coming to those who refuse to follow British Columbia's COVID-19 restrictions.

Horgan says BC has shown itself to be more successful in managing the virus than some of its neighbours, but the small portion of people who refuse to follow public health restrictions are jeopardizing the health of others.

BC reported 522 new COVID-19 cases today and 21 additional deaths, for a total of 668.

The premier says the province will be cracking down on those who refuse to follow the rules over the next few weeks and will ensure that those who break the restrictions are punished.

Hosting or visiting people from different households is prohibited with few exceptions this holiday season.

Worship services and community events have been suspended, along with high-intensity group fitness and indoor and outdoor sports for those 19 and over.

The first COVID-19 vaccination in BC was also administered today.

Lethbridge police seek suspect driver in hit-and-run investigation

Lethbridge Police Service says it is seeking the public’s help to identify a driver involved in a hit-and-run that damaged a parked vehicle. According to a police release, the incident occurred between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on March 24 in the 900 block of 18 Street North. Investigators say a vehicle struck a parked white SUV and left the scene without stopping. Police confirmed the SUV sustained significant damage. No injuries have been reported. Based on debris recovered at the scene, officers have identified the suspect vehicle as a 2010 Mitsubishi Outlander. The investigation remains ongoing.

Shots fired at Delta home; no injuries reported, police say

According to a Delta Police Department statement, officers responded around 2:50 a.m. Friday to the 11200 block of 92A Avenue near Hardy Road after reports of gunfire.
