Police say an innocent bystander was hurt in Saturday's fatal shooting in broad daylight on a busy Burnaby street, another sign of the increasingly brazen gang conflict underway in Metro Vancouver.
Sergeant Frank Jang of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said earlier that the Burnaby shooting that killed a 19 year old man on Saturday evening and Sunday's slaying at Vancouver's airport are all part of a gang battle.
Superintendent Dave Chauhan leads the team and says 20-year-old Ahmed Tahir, shown in court records to be known to police, has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
Chauhan says a second man who was on the street at the time of the shooting was treated in hospital for gunshot wounds but was an innocent bystander whose injuries are not considered life threatening.
