The RBI on Wednesday raised its key lending rate by 40 basis points to 4.40 per cent with immediate effect. The central bank also hiked the cash reserve ratio by 50 basis points. Police say an off-duty corrections officer who was gunned down in a Walmart parking lot in Delta, B.C., was killed in a case of mistaken identity. The Delta Police Department says investigators believe Bikramdeep Randhawa was shot because his killers thought he was part of the Lower Mainland gang conflict. A man who was fleeing arrest for a gang-related murder in Thailand has been confirmed as one of the victims of a plane crash in northwestern Ontario. The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of BC says in a release that Gene Lahrkamp, one of two men wanted for the February shooting of BC gang member Jimi Sandhu, died in the April 30th plane crash near Sioux Lookout. Vancouver police say they are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 51 year old woman. Police say they found the victim suffering from stab wounds inside an apartment in the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood at about 2:30 am yesterday and that she died at the scene. They say a 51 year old man has been arrested but charges have not yet been laid. Investigators say they believe the suspect and victim knew each other.
