Prince George RCMP makes significant seizure of suspected illicit drugs
Over the past month, members of Prince George RCMP’s Street Crew Unit conducted an investigation into drug trafficking in Prince George. Police arrested two men in the course of the investigation, seizing over 70 grams of suspected fentanyl, cash and drug trafficking paraphernalia off one of the suspects. Alert Ready system in place for B.C. wildfires but not heat domes in early June
Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth says an automated alert system will be ready to warn British Columbia residents of spring flooding and summer wildfires but not yet for extreme heat. Alert Ready is a Canada-wide system that allows government officials to issue public safety alerts through major television and radio broadcasters, as well as compatible wireless devices. Farnworth says the system is all set for the spring thaw and will be in place by early June for wildfires. Feds, Ontario invest $1B to retool Stellantis plants to make electric vehicles
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the Stellantis auto plants in Windsor and Brampton, Ontario, will become global leaders in electric vehicle manufacturing. Four cadets dead after incident at Royal Military College in Kingston
The Department of National Defence says four cadets at the Royal Military College are dead after what it calls a ``fatal incident'' at the institution's campus in Kingston, Ontario. They say it occurred early this morning at Point Frederick. Officials say the loss is being felt across the Royal Military College community, while next-of-kin notifications are still ongoing. The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service is investigating.

A man has been fatally shot in a confrontation with Vancouver police and the office that handles all cases of police-involved deaths in British Columbia is now investigating. Toronto police seize 189kg of cocaine, 97kg of crystal methamphetamine
A 29-year-old man has been charged with drug trafficking offences after Toronto police say they seized large amounts of drugs earlier this month. Police say a total of 189 kilograms of cocaine and 97kg of crystal methamphetamine were seized during the investigation. Investigators say the bust is the largest single-day seizure of drugs in the force's history. They say officers arrested the suspect on April 2 in the underground parking lot of a building near Yonge Street and The Esplanade in downtown Toronto. Police allege the accused had 50kg of cocaine in his possession when he was arrested.
