Netflix Announces Release Date of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s one-of-a-kind and supremely grand project ‘Heeramandi’ has the attention of millions of fans. As it was already known that Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar will be released on Netflix, now the platform has also announced its official release date. In an exclusive Netflix event, it was announced that Heeramandi will be released on May 1, 2024.

The project starring Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal in the lead roles also stars some more outstanding actors in pivotal and supporting roles. This Bhansali project is said to be the most expensive Indian project and also promises to be a cinematic treat for the fans.

Expressing his feelings about the project and its release, Sanjay Leela Bhansali said, “I am grateful to the entire team for their relentless passion and dedication to bring the world of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar to Netflix. With the release scheduled for May 1, we can’t wait for audiences worldwide to watch it and show us their love and appreciation.”

Monika Shergill, Vice-president-Content, Netflix India excited about the scale of it and said, “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is undoubtedly India’s biggest cinematic series, and the auteur, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, in his true signature style, has created a mesmerizing world with powerful characters that fight for their fate and that of their country.”

The official synopsis of the project defines Heeramandi as “the scheming Mallikajaan rules over an elite house of courtesans — but a new rival threatens her reign as rebellion brews in British-ruled India”.
