In recent days, there has been much speculation regarding Karan Johar's Dharma Productions facing financial difficulties and potentially selling stakes to Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries. However, the reality is quite different. Adar Poonawalla's Serene Productions has acquired a 50% stake in Dharma Productions.
Karan Johar's Dharma and Adar Poonawalla's Serene Entertainment recently issued a joint statement announcing, “Serene Productions has entered into a binding agreement to invest INR 1,000 crore into Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Dharmatic Entertainment (collectively known as 'Dharma'), one of India’s leading production houses."
With this investment, Serene Productions will own 50% of Dharma, while Karan Johar will maintain the remaining half. Karan will continue to serve as Executive Chairman, guiding the creative vision, while Apoorva Mehta, as Chief Executive Officer, will collaborate with Karan to drive the strategic direction and ensure operational excellence within the organization.
