Filmmaker Nishikant Kamat who directed 2015 thriller Drishyam passed away on Monday at age 50. He was suffering from Liver Cirrhosis for the past two years. Kamat, who had multiple organ failure, was admitted to the hospital on July 31 with complaints of fever and excessive fatigue. Many celebrities, including Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh took to Twitter to mourn the demise of the director."My equation with Nishikant was not just about Drishyam, a film which he directed with Tabu and me. It was an association that I cherished. He was bright; ever-smiling. He has gone too soon. RIP Nishikant," Ajay Devgn said on Twitter.

Kamat helmed many Marathi and Hindi films. Some of his best-known projects include the 2011 action film Force starring John Abraham and Madaari starring Irrfan Khan. Kamat made his directorial debut with Marathi film Dombivali Fast in 2005. His Bollywood debut was Mumbai Meri Jaan, which also featured Irrfan Khan.
