After nearly three decades of marriage, Saira Banu, the wife of renowned Bollywood composer A.R. Rahman, has revealed her decision to part ways with him. Her lawyer, Vandana Shah, issued a formal statement on behalf of Saira, explaining the couple's choice to separate.
The statement stated, "Following years of marriage, Mrs. Saira Banu has come to the incredibly painful conclusion to end her relationship with Mr. A.R. Rahman. This decision follows considerable emotional strain within their union. Although they continue to care for each other deeply, the ongoing challenges have led to an unbridgeable divide, one neither of them feels capable of overcoming at this moment. Mrs. Saira expressed that this choice comes from a place of immense sorrow and heartache. She asks for privacy and compassion from the public as she faces this challenging and personal time."
The couple, who wed in 1995, share three children: Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen.
