Team Canada improved to 2-0 at the 2026 Canada Cup with a convincing 7-0 victory over Venezuela on Tuesday at Softball City.

Paige Simpson opened the scoring with a two-run single in the second inning before Canada broke the game open in the fourth, highlighted by a three-run home run from Erika Polidori and an RBI double from Emma Entzminger.

Morgan Rackel earned the win in the circle, allowing just one hit while striking out six over four scoreless innings.

Canada continued its strong all-around play with 10 hits, seven walks and another error-free defensive performance.

Entzminger, Grace Messmer and Zoe Hicks each recorded two hits, while Polidori drove in three runs.

Team Canada returns to action Wednesday evening when they face New Zealand at 6:15 p.m. at Softball City.

Team Canada had earlier beaten Team Brazil in it's first game on Monday.

Team Canada had finished as runner-up in the tournament in 2025 after finishing as champions in the tournament with an unbeaten run in 2024.

Three Punjabi Youths Arrested After Illegal Gun Seized During Brampton Traffic Stop

Peel Regional Police have arrested three Punjabi youths in Brampton after a traffic stop led to the seizure of an illegal firearm. With this latest seizure, the total number of illegal firearms seized by Peel police this year has reached 112. Hit-and-Run in Vancouver Leaves 23-Year-Old Woman Injured

A hit-and-run occurred in downtown Vancouver on Friday night, leaving a 23-year-old woman injured. According to police, the woman was crossing Davie Street and Pacific Boulevard at around 9:30 p.m. on August 21 when she was struck by a blue sedan. The driver fled the scene and was last seen travelling eastbound on Pacific Boulevard from Davie Street. The injured woman was taken to hospital for treatment.
