Biden cancels trip to Germany and Angola because of hurricane
President Joe Biden is postponing a planned trip to Germany and Angola to remain at the White House to monitor Hurricane Milton, which is bearing down on Florida’s Gulf Coast, the White House announced on Tuesday.
Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said the change was necessary “given the projected trajectory and strength" of the storm.
It was not clear when the trip might be rescheduled. Biden had promised to go to Africa during his term in office, which ends in January.

Transport Minister sentenced to jail in corruption case
Singapore's Indian-origin former Transport Minister S. Iswaran has been sentenced to 12 months in jail on Thursday in a corruption case. They had received nearly 400,000 Singapore dollars' worth of gifts from the two businessmen as bribes over a period of seven years.
The investigation of this matter was completed by Singapore's Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau a year ago. The judge said that the former transport minister abused his position instead of fulfilling the duty of being a public servant.

Punjabi youth died in California under suspicious circumstances
A Punjabi youth belonging to Kapurthala, Punjab died under suspicious circumstances in California. According to reports, the deceased youth was to be married on October 18, for which preparations were being made by the family.
The family of the deceased alleges that their son has been murdered, but the American police have given the family the cause of death as a heart attack.

School bus catches fire outside Bangkok and 25 on board are feared dead, government officials say
A bus carrying young students with their teachers caught fire in suburban Bangkok on Tuesday with 25 of those on board feared dead, according to officials and rescuers.

Huge explosion rocks a southern suburb of Beirut
Israeli airstrikes hit one of Beirut’s heavily-populated southern suburbs on Friday as blasts were heard throughout the Lebanese capital.
