The Reverend Al Sharpton says tens of thousands came to the Lincoln Memorial today as Dr. Martin Luther King Junior did 57 years ago to say they are tired of broken promises. Protesters are calling for police reform and marking the anniversary of King's 1963 ``I Have a Dream'' speech. Sharpton told the crowd that enough is enough saying ``If we have to march every day we will get your knee off our neck.'' US President Donald Trump is urging people to pay attention to local officials and get out of the path of hurricane Laura, which is now a powerful Category 4 storm. There are fears Laura will come ashore with a six-metre storm surge that forecasters say would be deadly and capable of submerging entire towns. Police in Antioch, Illinois have arrested a teenager on suspicion of first-degree intentional homicide after two people were shot to death during another night of Black Lives Matter protests in nearby Kenosha, Wisconsin. A man was caught on cellphone video opening fire in the street with a semi-automatic rifle and could be heard saying ``I just killed somebody.'' Video also shows police apparently letting a young man walk past them with a rifle over his shoulder as people yelled for him to be arrested because he had shot people.

The death of a police officer's wife in the Miami area is being considered an accident. 56 year old Clara Paulino climbed into the backseat of her husband's marked SUV Friday to find something and got trapped inside when the doors closed and the self-locking device engaged. She was trapped for about four hours on a hot afternoon as her husband slept after finishing a midnight shift. The SUV has a cage that separates the back seat from the front seat and has bars on the windows and doors that can only be opened from the outside.

Mexican marines and customs authorities say they have seized 250 pounds (113.5 kilograms) of the synthetic opioid fentanyl at the Mexico City airport. It was the second such large bust at the airport this month. Authorities said Tuesday the fentanyl was found in four small cardboard drums that were part of an air freight shipment. Mexican drug cartels once favoured importing fentanyl and closely related chemical precursors from Asia through Mexico's Pacific coast seaports, but they now appear to have turned to airports. President Donald Trump says the United Arab Emirates and Israel will establish diplomatic ties in a deal halting the planned annexation of occupied land sought by the Palestinians for their future state. The announcement by Trump came in a tweet on Thursday. It means the UAE, which is home to the cities of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, would become the first Gulf Arab state to have ties to Israel. British Transport Police say three people died and six were taken to the hospital with injuries after a passenger train derailed in northeast Scotland amid stormy weather. The train's driver is believed to be among the dead, but formal identification is pending. The British Transport Police force said officers were called to the railway line near the coastal town of Stonehaven on Wednesday morning.
