Thousands of people, many not wearing masks, attended U.S. President Donald Trump's first campaign rally since the COVID-19 pandemic began. But the B.O.K. Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was far from its 19-thousand seat capacity. Trump campaign officials said protesters prevented the president's supporters from entering the stadium, but journalists in Tulsa reported there was no blocked entry to the area where the rally was held. Trump supporters faced off with protesters throughout the evening, but while there were shouting matches, things remained largely peaceful.

China has charged two detained Canadians with spying today, further escalating tensions between the two countries. Chinese prosecutors say Michael Kovrig was charged on suspicion of spying for state secrets. They say Michael Spavor was charged on suspicion of spying for a foreign entity and illegally providing state secrets. The charges were announced by China's highest prosecutor's office in brief social media posts. Both men have been held since December 2018 in a move seen as an apparent attempt to pressure Canada to release Huawei executive Meng Wanzhou. They have been in Chinese prisons

Reaction is pouring in from Washington as more details of the book by President Trump's former national security adviser John Bolton come out. Speaker Nancy Pelosi says John Bolton's book is, quote ``interesting'' because he was so arrogant during the House impeachment inquiry. She said Bolton quote chose loyalty over patriotism, and called his book a substitute for testifying before Congress. In the book Bolton accuses Trump of begging the leader of China to help him get re-elected. Trump calls Bolton a ``sick puppy'' who is taking revenge for being fired.

The Atlanta officer who fatally shot Rayshard Brooks in the back after the fleeing man pointed a stun gun in his direction is going to be charged with felony murder and 10 other crimes. Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard made the announcement about Garrett Rolfe during a news conference Wednesday. Howard said Rolfe kicked Brooks while he lay on the ground and that the officer with him, Devin Brosnan, stood on Brooks' shoulder as he struggled for life Friday night. Howard says Brosnan is co-operating and has given testimony, the first time in 40 cases he remembers such co-operation. R

The family of a black man killed in a scuffle with Atlanta police outside a fast food drive-thru is pleading for nonviolent protests and policy changes to end future deaths in police custody. About 20 relatives of 27-year-old Rayshard Brooks said at a news conference Monday that he was a loving father with a big heart. Brooks was shot late Friday as police tried to arrest for being intoxicated behind the wheel. His niece, Chassidy Evans, said the family isn't just pleading for justice, but also for change. Hundreds of mourners packed a Houston, Texas church today for the funeral of George Floyd. He was the black man whose death has inspired a worldwide reckoning over racial injustice. Floyd was killed May 25th as a white Minneapolis police officer pressed a knee on Floyd's neck. His niece, Brooke Williams, became emotional as she questioned why officers held her uncle down. She says the accused officer watched as ``his soul left his body.'' Floyd's death sparked international protests.

A judge has kept bail at one million dollars for a white Minneapolis police officer charged with second-degree murder in the death of a black man. Derek Chauvin said almost nothing during an 11 minute hearing in which he appeared on closed-circuit television from prison. A judge raised the 44 year old Chauvin's unconditional bond from half a million dollars. Chauvin also faces charges of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. He invoked George Floyd's name this morning as he trumpeted the latest job numbers. Trump told reporters, ``Hopefully George is looking down right now and saying this is a great thing that's happening for our country.'' Trump added, ``This is a great day for him. It's a great day for everybody.''
