Jasper evacuees to get information on phased re-entry of town today
Details about when and how evacuated residents of Jasper will be allowed to return to their homes nearly three weeks after a wildfire forced them to flee will be announced today.
Parks Canada says Unified Incident Command will hold a virtual media briefing this morning to provide information on the phased re-entry into the town of Jasper.
On Saturday, Jasper Mayor Richard Ireland said the date when people will be permitted back into the town would come Monday.

Passenger plane crashes in Brazil's Sao Paulo state. It's unclear how many people were aboard
A plane able to carry dozens of passengers crashed in Brazil's Sao Paulo state on Friday, local media reported, but it was not immediately clear how many people were aboard.
The local firefighters corps confirmed that the plane fell in the city of Vinhedo, but did not offer more details.
Brazil’s TV GloboNews showed footage of a large area on fire and smoke coming out of an apparent plane fuselage.

Manu Bhakar meet Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday meet Indian shooter Manu Bhakar, who wins two medals in the Paris Olympics, at his Chandigarh residence.
Manu is the first Indian to win two consecutive medals in one Olympics. CM Mann congratulated on her historic victory and also took a picture with him.

Calgary mayor says city considering replacing water pipe that ruptured
Calgary's mayor says the city is considering ways to strengthen a key water main for the long term, including replacing it altogether.
Jyoti Gondek says in the spring the city could add a liner or a sleeve to the pipe to strengthen it, or dig alongside it and built an entirely new one.
The pipe in northwest Calgary ruptured in early June, drenching a stretch of the Trans-Canada Highway and nearby parkland.
The break forced Calgarians to undertake a series of water conservation measures, from not watering lawns to taking shorter showers.

Canada imposes sanctions on anniversary of fraudulent 2020 Belarus election
Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly says Canada his imposed sanctions on 10 people and six entities on the anniversary of the fraudulent 2020 presidential elections in Belarus.
The sanctions are in response to what Joly describes as ongoing and systematic human rights abuses in Belarus, and support for Russia's illegal war of aggression against Ukraine.
The list includes judges who Canada says have arbitrarily condemned citizens for expressing their opposition to the 2020 elections.

Woman from United States dead after highway crash in southeastern B.C.
Police in southeastern British Columbia say one person is dead after a highway crash just outside the community of Field, B.C., near the Alberta boundary.
RCMP say the two-vehicle crash on Thursday involved a pick-up truck carrying two people from the United States and a minivan with three people from Alberta.
They say evidence at the scene suggests the truck crossed the centre line of Highway 1, hitting the oncoming van.
Everyone involved was taken to hospital, including two who were airlifted to Calgary.

Bikram Singh Majithia may be summoned again by the Special Investigation Team
The special investigation team may again summon Bikram Singh Majithia, senior leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal, in the multi-crore drugs smuggling case of Punjab.

Manish Sisodia came out of Tihar jail after 17 months
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia came out of Tihar Jail after 17 months on Friday.
This afternoon the Supreme Court granted him bail in both the CBI and ED cases related to the Delhi liquor scam.
