West Shore RCMP say a focused investigation by their Crime Reduction Unit has led to the recovery of more than $140,000 worth of stolen property linked to multiple communities across Vancouver Island.
Police say the investigation began in November 2025 while officers were searching for a 42-year-old man wanted on several outstanding warrants. Officers located and arrested the suspect without incident, recovering a stolen Chevrolet pickup truck and flat deck trailer loaded with construction-related items, including scaffolding, equipment and a 35-ton SpeeCo wood splitter.
As the investigation continued, officers obtained several search warrants after identifying additional stolen property believed to be connected to the suspect. Those searches led to the recovery of a stolen Ford F-350 pickup truck, a stolen RV trailer, a stolen cargo trailer filled with construction equipment and a variety of stolen tools. Police estimate the combined value of the recovered items at just over $140,000.
Cpl. Danny Grieve of the West Shore RCMP Crime Reduction Unit said the case demonstrates the importance of proactive enforcement. He noted that returning stolen property helps reduce the financial impact of crime on local residents and businesses that depend on tools and equipment to earn a living.
While many of the recovered items have been returned to their owners, RCMP are still working to identify who owns several pieces of property, including a SpeeCo 35-ton wood splitter, an antique Howe platform scale, a Fill-Rite pump with a red and black tidy tank and a dual-lid packer truck bed toolbox containing assorted tools.
Anyone who recognizes the items or can help identify the rightful owners is asked to contact the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264. Police say the investigation remains ongoing, and the suspect has appeared in court and remains in custody facing several charges related to the case.
