A car that plunged into the Squamish river near Squamish B.C. with four people inside earlier this year has been recovered, yet one of its occupants (Navdeep Singh Sidhu) remains missing, say police.

According to a Squamish RCMP release, on October 18, 2025, the vehicle involved in a single-vehicle collision that entered the Squamish River in the early morning hours of June 14, 2025 was recovered. Police say, the recovery marks a significant step in the ongoing investigation.

At the time of the incident, four individuals were reported to be in the vehicle. Three of the occupants have been accounted for, one passenger remains unaccounted for.

Sea to Sky GIS has conduct of the ongoing investigation. Squamish Search and Rescue and the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team were integral in the vehicle recovery. Their diligent efforts of monitoring water levels and ultimately locating the still submersed vehicle, led to the successful recovery of the vehicle in challenging conditions.

Connect FM contacted Sgt. Vanessa Munn to ask about the investigation and if criminality is being investigated in the incident. Sgt. Munn said, "the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision remains active and the recovery process was long given the nature of the river and the water level." She added, "the investigation in the case remains ongoing and even with the collision there can be criminal charges that can come with the investigation." She said, "the recovery of the vehicle is an important step in the right direction and will help in further investigation."

Nav Dhaliwal, a close relative of Navdeep Singh, told Connect FM "the mother of Navdeep Singh has not been informed about the vehicle as Diwali was around and they were waiting for the right time to convey the news." He added that the police investigation has been satisfactory and they are hoping to get some information on Navdeep to have a closure as his mother still thinks he is alive.

Canada recorded a merchandise trade surplus of $2.72 billion in April, up 55 per cent from the previous month and the highest level in 15 months, according to data released Tuesday by Statistics Canada. The increase was driven in part by higher crude oil prices, which supported the value of Canadian exports during the month. The latest figures come as global energy markets continue to respond to geopolitical tensions affecting oil supply and pricing.
