The US border will remain closed to all but essential crossings by Canadians for at least another month.

Washington announced the move today, along with a rule that will require most adult foreign nationals flying into the US to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of early November.

It's not clear if Canadians who received the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, which has never been approved for use in the US, will be considered fully vaccinated.

The White House says President Joe Biden will ease foreign travel restrictions into the US beginning in November.

Foreign citizens will be allowed into the country by plane if they have proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 test.

Airlines are hailing the easing of travel restrictions as a lifeline for a struggling industry.
