On the Air India plane crash, Indian Home Minister Amit Shah said that there were a total of 230 passengers and 12 crew members on board the plane. Out of these, 1 passenger survived and they have come to meet him. He said that the death toll will be officially released only after DNA testing and identification of the passengers.

The government said that the work of recovering the bodies of all the passengers from the wreckage has been almost completed and those whose families are abroad have been informed. According to the government, there was one and a half lakh litres of jet fuel in the plane, due to which the temperature rose so much that there was no chance of saving anyone.
